Suffering Bastard


So many classic cocktails are born in the bars of great hotels. Originally conceived as a hangover cure by the bar staff at Cairo’s Shepherd’s Hotel (before it burned to the ground in 1952), this bourbon- and gin-based drink has been around for 70 years. This is Monkey 47's take on this classic coktail. Believe me, you don't need to have a hangover to enjoy it!


Monkey 47  - 25ml
Rebel Yell Kentucky Bourbon - 25ml
Lime juice - 20ml
Angostura Bitters - 2 dashes
150ml Fever-Tree Ginger Ale


Fill a highball glass with ice cubes. Add Monkey 47, Rebel Yell, lime juice and bitter. Top up with ginger ale. Garnish with an orange wedge and a mint sprig. Cheers!
